In each rak’ah, the reading of verses from the Koran is an integral part of this prayer. The movements of bowing and prostrating are carried out solemnly, remembering the presence of Allah SWT. The final tahiyat and greetings are the closing which gives an impression of solemnity and piety in the performance of the Tarawih Prayers.

The Procedure of Tarawih Prayer

The month of Ramadan, full of blessings and blessings, is a time for Muslims to celebrate patience, togetherness and devotion. The Tarawih and Witir prayers, the sunnah law of sukakad, are performed after the Isha prayer. The majority of Muslims in Indonesia choose 20 or 8 rak’ahs, either at the mosque or at home. This can be done not only in congregation but also alone. With this implementation, Muslims hope to receive blessings in the month of Ramadan.

Procedures for taraweh prayers

1. Definition of taraweh prayer

The term “tarawih” comes from Arabic, namely “tarwihah,” where this word means rest. According to the definition of the Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), tarawih prayers in terminology refer to sunnah prayers which are especially performed on the nights of the month of Ramadan.

This tradition involves taking a short break after every four rakats of prayer. This uniqueness then gives the name “tarawih” to the sunnah prayers carried out on the nights of Ramadan, because this break is held in response to the fairly long duration of Qiyam Ramadan.

2. Performing after Isha prayer

Tarawih Prayers are a series of worship services performed after performing the Isha Prayers. Therefore, it is important to ensure that you have completed the Isha Prayer first before continuing with the Tarawih Prayer.

The perfection of this worship does not only involve the obligation to pray the Isha prayer as a first step, but also creates a continuation of worship that is solemn and full of grace on the eve of Ramadan. 3. Intention to pray Taraweeh

Before stepping into the Tarawih prayer service, a very important first step is to read the intention in your heart. This intention is not just a formality, but is a manifestation of sincerity in purifying worship of Allah.

The intention to pray taraweh as an imam is USHALLI SUNNATAT TARĀWĪHI RAK’ATAYNI MUSTAQBILAL QIBLATI ADĀ’AN IMĀMAN LILLĀHI TA’ĀLĀ. In Indonesian, it means: “I intend to perform the sunnah Tarawih prayer of two rak’ahs, facing the Qibla, with full responsibility as a priest for Allah SWT.

Meanwhile, the intention as a makmum is USHALLI SUNNATAT TARĀWĪH RAK’ATAYNI MUSTAQBILAL QIBLATI ADĀ’AN MA’MŪMAN LILLĀHI TA’ALA. If interpreted in Indonesian, it means that I deliberately perform the sunnah Tarawih prayer of 2 rak’ahs as a congregation because of Allah SWT.

4. How to perform Taraweeh prayers

Tarawih prayers begin with takbiratul ihram, where each congregation says “Allaahu akbar”. The first step is to read Surah Al-Fatihah, followed by other selected Qur’anic readings. Next is the bowing position then I’tidal, steps to stand up straight, filled with awareness and solemnity, involving the reading of i’tidal which is full of meaning.

After that, do the first prostration solemnly, and at each prostration recite the prostration prayer with feeling. Then sit between two prostrations, accompanied by a prayer that accompanies the moment. After that do the second prostration.

After completing the second prostration, get up or stand to continue to the second rak’ah by reading Surah Al-Fatihah until the last prostration by following the same sequence. In the end, the final tasyahud ends accompanied by the reading of the final tasyahud.

To conclude, say greetings by turning to the right and left while saying “Assalaamu ‘alaikum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh”. By following these procedures, Tarawih prayers become a journey of worship that is full of meaning and depth.

The priority of taraweh prayer

1. Previous sins are forgiven

Tarawih prayers, apart from being one of the recommended acts of worship in the month of Ramadan, also have great importance. In the hadith narrated by Imam Bukhari and Muslim, it is stated that for those who perform Tarawih Prayers sincerely, with sincere intentions because of faith and seeking reward, Allah will grant forgiveness for previous sins.

This hadith describes how great and noble the blessing of Tarawih Prayer is, which is not only a form of worship, but also as a means of obtaining forgiveness from Allah SWT.

2. Expanding your fortune

Tarawih prayers, often held in congregation at mosques, are not only worship but also an opportunity to build friendships. Meeting at the mosque is a means of maintaining good relations with fellow Muslims, it is believed to be able to open the door to abundant fortune.

In Islam, maintaining friendship is not just returning kindness, but trying to extend the relationship even if it has been broken. By praying Tarawih and establishing friendship, Muslims hope to receive blessings and blessings in life.

3. Sunnah practices recommended by the Prophet

Tarawih prayer is one of the sunnah practices that was highly recommended by Rasulullah SAW. He himself once performed this prayer several nights, but then did not continue to do it so that it was not obligatory for Muslims. Nevertheless, the Prophet provided encouragement and gave an example of carrying out tarawih prayers as a practice full of blessings.

4. Increased obedience and khusyu’

Tarawih prayers are an opportunity for Muslims to increase their devotion to Allah. By involving oneself in this night’s prayer, one can draw closer to the Creator and show obedience and obedience to Him. Tarawih prayers also provide an opportunity to increase khusyu’, where each rak’ah can be filled with khusyuan and awareness of the greatness of Allah.

5. Keeping Muslims together

Tarawih prayers are often performed in congregation in mosques, creating an atmosphere of togetherness and solidarity among Muslims. Togetherness in this worship gives the impression of brotherhood and strengthens the bonds of Islamic brotherhood. Rasulullah SAW once said, “Whoever prays with the imam until the end, it is recorded that he prayed the whole night.” (HR. At-Tirmidhi and Abu Dawud).
